"Abbo from the hafway line"

Nayim, Real Zaragoza - Paris, 1995
Ronaldinho, Brazil - Japan, 2002
Phil Collins, Margate - Hereford, 2003
Paul Abbott, Margate - Tonbridge, 2006

Margate's second and winning goal yesterday afternoon was a bit special. Just after conceding the Tonbridge equalizer, Paul Abbott, the Margate midfielder, swung at the ball from about 50 yards out. The ball ballooned high into the air, swerved in the blustery conditions and found its way into the back of the net. The unfortunate Tonbridge goalie, Aaron Kerr (perhaps he should have been called Wayne) looked a right plum as he grovelled in the mud as the travelling Margate fans celebrated with delight.

Margate FC is now firmly on top of the Ryman Premier League. Conference football awaits.

The picture above shows a some of the younger travelling support.

You forgot the Liverpool goal in the FA Cup against my other team, Luton.

That wasn't up 100 feet in the air though.
